The increase in demand for short videos on platforms such as Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram and Vine has meant that publishers need to up their game. In-platform apps such as the Facebook ads manager (official site here) have helped up get in front of more viewers than ever before through the use of social media.
According to a tubular insights report, there were more than 7.9 million videos uploaded directly to Facebook in September 2016, generating more than 208 billion views for around 1.1 million different creators.
So which publishers are the top dog? Where should you go to get your video fix
Unilad topped the list on the report with 3.3 billion videos views in September. Their video content is a mixture of news, entertainment, and things that makes you laugh or cry. Here’s some examples of the content they share:
A simple but hilarious and well liked video. It has had more than 10 million views to date.
A video that highlights a problem many of us can relate to. The numbers show it has had more than 7 million views and 67,000 likes.
This video talks to workers of ‘Not Just Soup’, a soup kitchen that feeds homeless people in Manchester with food from some of the best restaurants in the city. It also features interviews with homeless people who rely on such services. It’s a powerful video that highlights a serious problem.
The Lad Bible made it into 2nd place with 2.7 billion video views in September. Similar to UNILAD, The LAD Bible’s video content is a mixed bag. It features news, entertainment, the unusual and the heart warming. Here’s some examples of the content they share:
The video is about a girl, Alexandra Johnston, who is fighting Ewing’s sarcoma cancer for the second time in her young life. She’s a big fan of ‘Sons of Anarchy’ so a group of bikers give her a big surprise. This touching video has had more than 3 million views.
Videos about relationships go down well. This particular one focuses on the girlfriend trying to get her boyfriend’s attention and has more than 10 million views and 72,000 reactions.
‘Life hack’ videos are popular and this one fits well into that category. With over 6.5 million views, the audience loves this unusual way to open the much-loved chocolate.
Tasty had 1.7 billion video views in September. Tasty videos are all about good food and the audience loves them. Here’s some examples of the video content that they share.
A collection of Tasty’s delicious dessert recipes from strawberry cheesecake poke cake to upside-down banana bread. The audience loves the look of this video and the recipes, which has had more than 5.5 million views and 148,000 reactions.
A collection of Tasty’s delicious appetisers that work well for game days. It features recipes ranging from mozzarella onion rings to garlic parmesan potato wedges. Foodies in need of inspiration have resulted in more than 26 million views and 300,000 likes for this video.
Again another round up of delicious food inspiration. Another favourite with followers of the page, with video views clocking in at more than 24 million.
5-Minute Crafts make an appearance on the list, coming in with 922 million video views in September. Their videos are all about creative DIY and nifty tips and tricks. Here are some examples of the content they share:
You wouldn’t think you could make a stylish bag from a t-shirt you no longer wear. Well, 5-minute crafts have shown us how. With 44 million views, this is worth every watch.
Again, this is something unusual that you couldn’t imagine working but 5-minute crafts have shown us how to carry it off. This video has had more than 15 million views.
The office favourite! Who knew the humble paper clip could save our lives in so many ways. More than 23 million viewers have found this video interesting.
Next up we have Nifty, a page for all things DIY, and well, nifty. It had 747 million views in September. Here’s some examples of the content it shares.
We’ve all been there – accidents happen, our makeup falls and turns to crumble. In most cases, we deem it fit for the bin. But why waste a perfect product when Nifty shows you how to return that crumble to its former glory. With 50 million views, it’s proved to be a pretty handy hack.
